    Hi
I worked in usa in 2008 & now returned back to India.. I got my w-2 for 2008 and would like to file my tax returns.. before that I have couple of doubts.. clarify..

    1) Can I file from India ?
    2) Can I file online(turbotax) & give address of my friend's in usa for check delivery..
    3) Is it possible to get the check to India address ?
    4) Is it comuplsory to apply from India through 1040 NR forms ?
    5) which form do I need to fill 1040 NR or 1040NR-EZ?

    1) Yes.

    2) Probably not.

    3) Yes, but direct deposit is faster and safer.

    4) Maybe, maybe not; not enough info to determine.

Yes you can file from India. You can give India address and if you do not opt for direct deposit, IRS will mail you check at your India address.

For 2008 your status can be resident, nonresident or dual status depending upon your visa, your 2007 tax return, date of leaving the U.S. married or unmarried?
