OK guys My wife went to the bathroom last night around 3 in the moring. Now my toilets on the fritz. The water level is all the way at the bottom and when I flush it fill almost all the way up and then drains down slowly, its not a flush more like a slow drain. So fist thing I did was glove up and clean out the jet drain and the holes under the rim of the bowl. That didn't do anythiny at all. So I tried filling the bowl up with water from a bucket and force flush it that didn't work either. Now I've herd that you can run water down your pluming vent on the roof and that could help or is that wrong. Or do you think I've got a clog in the lines and if so how do I get rid of it. BTW I'm not on a septic tank. Please help.

Your best bet here will be to run to home depot and purchase a CLOSET AUGER (see pictures)...

This is a telescoping type of hand-held snake that gets inserted into the bowl and then the snake gets turned and pushed in to get it into and through the bowl.

That should either retrieve or push through anything blocking the drain.

If that doesn't work then you will try to remove the toilet and see what is blocking the drain or the toilet from there. I would NOT worry about water down the vent for now since other fixtures are not involved!

First thing I wouls do is purchase a closet auger, (see image) and auger the bowl. If you have a plunger you might also try that, (see image) Good luck, Tom

Just to add my two cents,. just try a good plunger first. As long as nothting was dropped into toilet(except, or course, the obvious) this may be a very simple fix. If plunger doesn't cut it, closet auger is next best step.

Don't be afraid to get in there and really work that plunger. Ive had people call me in for a plugged toilet, they say they have plunged it, and I hit it once with a high volume plunger,, presto, problem solved. Good luck and please let us know how things work out.

OK I think I got it bought a new plunger and went to town on it. I think Im going to buy an auger and give it a go with it 2 thanks all for your help KEN

You need to hold a rag over the overflow tube in the tank while plunging.
