Redoing our upstairs bathroom and am going to replaced the current 1000w baseboard heater with a in-wall 1000w electric fan heater. Is there any restriction against mounting it in the exterior wall or should it be mounted in an interior wall? The exterior wall would be easiest as the 240v is already in place thanks to the old baseboard heater but if for some reason that is a bad idea I can rewire and mount inside as I'll already be running some wiring in order to accommodate an external thermostat. I can't find any litterature that says not to mount it as such although I do know it is a bad idea to mount thermostats against an exterior wall due to it not getting an accurate reading...

I have never heard anything recommending not to but I will say that every house that I have seen with baceboard heaters had them on the outside including renovated houses. Baseboard heaters are different than mounting a thermostat on the exterior wall in that you set a thermostat to a tempature and you set a baseboard heater to a level. Hope this helps

You will be fine on an outside wall. Just make sure insulation isn't a problem, clearance wise. And putting the thermostat on an interior wall is the only way to go. Just be careful the heater doesn't blow on it or you will have short cycling of the heater.
