    Thermstat wiring
    Okay guys I just moved into a new place and the thermostat is way off. It's a mechanical one, so today I went out and bought a honeywell programmable one and tried to install it. The problem is the wiring which I have no clue.

    What is included in the honey well is:

    Y
    G
    W
    Rc
    Rh

    On the mechanical one the wiring is different:

    Y
    G
    W
    O
    R

    Okay this is what I have tried:

    Y - Y
    G - G
    W - W
    O - Rc
    R - Rh

    So I wired it that way and it didn't work. So I tried to switch the orange and red, so it was O - Rh and R - Rc. Now that gave off heat when it was on cool.
    So I was messing around with it and I think that Orange is for cooling and the Red is a sort of turn on / power.

    If anyone could tell me how to wire this, it would be greatly appricated. I've been trying for a few days now and its fustrating.

    Thx fellas

    Sorry for the delay.

    The terminals on the new stat are:

    Y= cooling relay
    G=fan relay
    W=heating relay
    Rc=cooling power feed
    Rh=heating power feed

    If there is only one control power , then Rc and Rh get jumped out

    R on the old one should be the control power feed, not sure what the O is. Do you have a heat pump?

    Not sure how much this helps.
