    Dodge alternator
My 2008 dodge ram truck's alternator does not move when I start my truck. It takes about 7 to 15 seconds and then the indicator moves on the gage into the range it's supposed to be in. Is this normal? My truck runs fine, just the gage is slow.

The voltage regulator on your vehicle is inside the PCM computer. The PCM reads battery voltage and battery temperature. Until it gets all that information, it won't ask the alternator to start generating power. The most important reading is the battery temperature. So, your situation is normal.

I have had several dodges and it seems to be a common mopar issue. And have not had any problems occur from it. I would agree with RickMN
