How long can you collect TANF? I know in the state of NC you can't sign away your rights until the mother stops collecting welfare. IS there a certain age until it stops? And how old does the kid have to be in order for the mother to HAVE to get a JOB. One more thing, does my payments go down when she gets a job finally?

You will be able to sign away your rights when the mother gets married and her new husband wants to adopt the child. Not until then.

Your payment will probably not go down when she gets a job. The payment amount is a uniform percentage based on your income.

As far as the other questions concerning support and TANF. The TANF last as long as its needed. So the length of time in undetermined.

As far as the child support goes. Yes if she gets a job there may be an opportunity for an adjustment. Check this link and it might help you.
