How to collect child support from an enlisted Marine
I am needing to know how to establish child support for my daughter. Her father is currently a Master Gunnery Sgt in the Marine Corps currrently stationed in our home town of Chicago. He is not cooperative in areas of financial support or physically assisting with the responsibilities of being a parent.

I am quite frustrated and overwhelmed with trying to reason with him. The State Child Support Enforcement Agency in my State is so incompetent in handling these matters in a timely fashion. I attended several hearings resulting in them eventually losing paperwork or my case just sit dormant for 3 years now.

Can anyone give me some direction?

Have you gone to your local court and filed a paternity claim against the father to establish child support?

Your local family court is the first place to start.

The simple answer is you can't at this time unless you can get the state to relinquish the case against him. You gave up the right to pursue it when you went to the state and now its in their hands. You need to call there first and ask. Do you have an existing order in place already or are you trying to establish one ?

You can take the case back from the local child support agency (LACSA) anytime you want, that's no problem (and they will gladly give it back because they are always busy).

Getting a CS order ought to be as easy as falling off a log. Collecting an order for support against a military member? Probably one of the easiest things in the world. Just send your wage assignment to DFAS.
