    In the US it is 18. I don't imagine Canada is much different.

    Canada is much different than the united states. You must hire a lawyer (which can be done through legal aid) You inform your lawyer what you want, not what your parents want, what you want. Your lawyer will than petition the courts to have what you want. But the crucial part of all of this is that you have to be over the age of 12.
