Kilogram is a unit of mass. Netwon is a unit of force. Hence they measure two different things entirely. Under earth gravity one Kg weighs 9.8 N. This is because: Weight = mass * g, where g= acceleration due to gravity, which is 9.8 m/s^2 on earth.

On the moon where gravity is 1/6 that of earth you would find that 1 Kg weighs only 1/6 as much - about 1.6 N.
