My 9 month old son woke up this morning with one puffy red eyelid. The eye itself is not red he does not appear to be in any discomfort. I don't see a scratch or a white place that might be a stye. Can there be a stye without a white spot? Could it be allergies? Should I wait it out or go to the doctor right away?

To be really sure of what's going on, it would be best to take him to the doctor. No one here can diagnose what's going on but only make educated guesses, and some of them might be quite good and informed guesses, though. However, no one here who might be qualified can actually physically examine your son.
