I would suggest that Obama's incompetent running of the Executive Dept. including letting Madame Mimi's minions run rough shod over the bucket list ;his inability to staff arguably the most important Dept. in his Presidency ,his lack of focus ,and his over reaching ambitious agenda has left an opening for an ineffective Presidency and Congress not seen since the Jimmy Carter days. He has thrown so much at Congress that it would be impossible for them to adequately debate ,craft and pass legislation without giving due diligence to each measure.

We keep on going back to this . Either they don't know what to do... they don't consider the economy the crisis they keep saying it is... or they intentionally want to keep the economy in "crisis " to advance their other agendas ( see the oft sited quote by Rhambo ) .

You call us silly, but if I were you I’d be very concerned that the promised one has bitten off more than he can chew. But then, we tried to tell you the Presidency was no place for on-the-job training.

The point is that Carter did the same thing in his 1st few weeks... burying the Congress with lots of proposals . They were overwhelmed by it . Obama should be focusing on the economy and jobs... and let proposals for gvt take over of health care , global warming ,alt. energy ,education initiatives , rewriting the tax code to punish the successful be tabled to later . He should stop his weekly barnstorming like his is still on the campaign trail ,and he should get some rest on Wednesday nights... at least until confidence is restored in the financial sector .

He could do all that you mention and you would still rag on him like some nagging wife. It's your life's ambition.

The Community agitator is planning the next stage of his putsch . Leaning a quick lesson from the bucket list "debate " he will not make the need to compromise mistake happen again .

Peter Orszag, the director of the White House Office of Management and Budget has openly threatened to use a Senate procedure call "reconsiliation" to get key elements of the President's agenda passed like global warming and health care programs, and perhaps his proposals to raise taxes on the wealthy.

The reconsiliation procedure allows the Senate to pass legislation with an "up or down " 51 majority vote bypassing the normal fillibuster proof 60 votes for cloture .

Now ;it is not unusual to get a simple budget through the Senate this way. However ;this is not a simple budget ,it introduces sweeping new programs that would fundamentally change the United States. The tactic limits debate to no more than 20 hours and imposes restrictions on amendments. So in other words ;his "sea change" agenda gets jammed down our throats without any serious discussion or debate .

Suppose the Senate in 2005 had used similar tactics when President Bush's Social Security reforms were considered ? We'd still be hearing the howling of protest .I have no doubt that had the Republicans done that ;Harry Reid would've marched the complete body of Senate Democrats out to the front steps and boycotted the proceedings.

The only thing stopping this is 8 Senate moderate "Blue Dog "Democrats who sent a letter to the President stating
“Legislation so far-reaching should be fully vetted and given appropriate time for debate,” “Using this procedure would circumvent normal Senate practice and would be inconsistent with the administration's stated goals of bipartisanship, cooperation and openness.”

President Obama has told us, and so have those with BDS, that it took YEARS of a Bush administration and a republican led congress to get us into this predicament. He also told us it would take a lot of hard work and time to recover, so to speak.
