    Whose is it?
    Hi,

I am a 21yr old Canadian citizen in Brazil on a foreign exchange program. I have been here since the 15th of July today being August 27th. I have had a girlfriend since about the 20th of July and she is now telling me she is pregnant. However, I am suspicious, for many reasons, as to if the child is actually mine. I am also aware that she may want to leave Brazil for Canada in hopes of better life and sees this as her way out. Could someone please give me some info on ways to tell if the child (fetus at this point) is mine or not?

    Thank you.

You would have to find out how old the fetus is and then do the math. When did you two start having sex? After that's done, it's just a matter of did she sleep with anyone else while you two were together.

    Aqua is correct.

However, let me stress, she could be lying about when she got pregnant!

The only sure way to know is to do a paternity test after the child is born.

She could have gotten pregnant July 1, and yet is just pretending you are the father.

Yes... I agree she could definitely lie about when she got pregnant. An ultra sound done early on is a pretty accurate way to date a pregnancy.

The answers you have received so far are perfect!

There is no way right now that you can find out. You have to wait until the child is born for a paternity test.

I totally agree with your original thoughts and what CF said, she may think this is her ticket out, so she is making you believe you are the father.

I agree with Aqua about the ultrasound. The doctors have a very good way of telling almost to the day that she conceived, except she has to tell the truth about when her last menstrual period was.

    Good points from J_9.

However, I wouldn’t put it past the doctor to lie to you.

If this girl really wants to come to Canada, she might throw a few bucks the Doctors way to lie to you.

So in my opinion, just wait until the baby is born, and run a paternity test.
