    Sewage in toilet tank
The employee bathroom in my office (which gets very little activity) started to smell bad and water in the bowl was brownish - I checked the tank and it was even worse. This persisted for over a week when a handy-man came and said someone put feces in the tank and he cleaned it out! I am certain that sewage is backing up into the tank somehow. There is also staining at the floor and wall behind the toilet. What is really going on here?

I have heard of it as a very repulsive party prank. They deposit the surprise by regular means; they just sit a little higher! The problem occurring by any other means is practically impossible, even if you are in a low spot during a flood. The material would come out of the bowl before it would go up to the tank.

Clear vandalism by someone who doesn't mind touching their own, apparently. Sewage can not back up into a toilet tank from the toilet. The toilet would overflow onto the floor before it got even close.

Hard plunging could cause contents of bowl to back up into tank. But you wouldn't get a full size turd up there.

Might I suggest that the office department organize a "poop patrol" to snare the
MIDNIGHT POOPER" Good luck and let us know if you catch him,(or her) signed The speedster.
But seriously, This could contaminate the office water supply. The contaminated water in the tank is in direct contact with the incoming water from the ballcock. The health department should be notified and brought in to check your water for fecial contamination. This is a very poor joke. Good luck, tom
