    Felon can't get good work
I live in the state of Illinois, and everywhere I go to get a job they do background checks. I have a class 4 theft and also a class 3 agg. Battery. I can't seem to find a decent job anywhere in the state (not even a gas station) because of background checks. I heard that both of my cases are not expungable, and I was on probation for both.

What's the use of being put on probation? I thought being on probation, you could still be a active member of society, but it seems to me that I might as well had went to prison, because that's how I'm treated for mistakes I made, in the past.

I know how you feel, ineedanewlife! Would you be interested in doing things with people in some sort of health care setting? Have you heard about the Safer Foundation? Also, what sort of skills, education, training, and work experience have you already had, please?

    Thanks!

First of all, no I haen't heard of Safer Foundation. What is it? Secondly, I have computer skills. MicroSoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, I've had some college, and also I have Customer Service experience. I've been offered quite a few bank jobs, but as soon as my background comes back they withdraw their offer.

    Hello in:

    Theft?? Banking?? Dude!

I suggest applying at mom and pop shops where you can actually speak with the hiring person directly the first time you come by.

If you allow them to see your resume and your background check before they see your face, you ain't going to get a job.

The other avenue to finding work, is to subcontract your IT services instead of trying to be an employee. Subcontractors DON'T have to supply resumes and DON'T usually have to go through a background check.

They hire in the health care field in your area with a conviction for battery (physical assault)? Not in my area but I realize it varies from State to State.
