    Preventing sewage backup
Disaster Planning- During a sever disaster, Sewage could back up into your house if the power is out for a prolonged period and the city sewer lift stations are inoperable or abandoned.

What can I do to my sewer line before it connects to the city sewer line to prevent sewage from backing up? Is there a special type of valve that can be installed where the line can be cut off by a manual valve?

You could put a valve on that manually needs turned. The township may not allow it. Not sure what kind of pipe you have there

New Ball valves: PVC ball valve fits schedule 40, 80 pipes

I tried to send you some more but my Adobe reader isn't happy.

Yes it is possible to put a main line sewer shutoff valve
