Previous owners put a bathroom in the rec room. When they installed the toilet flange (to the sewer) it was not aligned with the wall. The toilet sits at a crooked angle, not aligned to the wall.

After removing the toilet - the flange that holds the toilet bolt-downs needs to be rotated so the bolts are at 9 and 3 o'clock --- not 8 and 2 o'clock.

How do we rotate the flange so the bolts are in the right location?

If the screws that hold the flange to the floor are removed will the sewer pipe stay where it is. (I guess I'm asking if the flange we see on the floor holds the sewer pipe to the underside of the flooring?)

Can we remove all the screws and rotate the flange?

Sorry, I don't know much about this stuff.

All toilet flanges have alongated slot on each side. You should be able to loosen the bolt and move it to the correct position. Reinstall toilet.

Sometimes, you don't even have to remove the toilet: just loosen the bolts a bit and "twist" the toilet so it moves so it is square with the wall. Tighten the bolts and you should be all set...
