    Black screen of death.
OK I'm having a big issue with an HP laptop... When I turn on my computer I receive a black screen, so I decided to plug in an external monitor. The computer started to load however my OS won't load on the computer it just keeps geving an error saying "Windows can not load"
Dose this sound like a video card or hard drive problem being the fact that my screen on the laptop doesn't even work now?
If ne ideas please let me know
    Thank You

Do you get an HP logo screen?

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

Don't know what type of recovery disks or info you have, but would try a repair installation if that is an option for your system

    Repair Installation
A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.

    Perform a Repair Installation

HP laptop OS can be corrupted that why it's not showing anything while your are turning on your laptop. So insert the laptop OS CD in the CD/DVD drive then it will automatically start installing but with laptop OS CD you can't install in the another computer because that is made for particular machine or HP machine only, try to install OS in the Laptop.
