    Tax returns on L1-B category
    Hi

I came to US on 24 July 2008 on L1-B Visa,
As I am working in California State, I had paid both federal and state taxes from my salary. Since my question is, I am here lesser than 183 days in financial year. When I do tax filing, is Federal and state tax will returned for L1b Visa?

    Please respond me?

    Thanks,
    Madhu.

On L1-B, your income income is subject to SS tax, Medicare tax, and income taxes. You must file federal and state tax returns.
If you are unmarried, then for 2008, you can only file nonresident tax return Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.

    Madhu:

If you are scheduled to depart the U.S. prior to 24 July 2009, you can also daily living expenses because your work assignment within the U.S. is LESS than one year.

You would detail these expenses on Form 2106.
