    Child abandment laws
    Just want to know what the terms of adbandement laws and time frames. The mother of the child(4 years old):confused: has not been in touch eith the child since christmas 2008.

    Generally, there are none. Abandonment is a criminal offense that has to do with leaving a child without any adult supervision.

    Abandonment can sometimes be used as grounds to change custody, change visistation or get a termination of parental rights,

    Different states have different guidelines as to how long without contact may constitute abandonment.

    So the question is what do you want to ultimately accomplish?
