    When did they start insulating the exterior walls and ceiling in houses?

    I don't know that exact time when rockwool was used for insulation before fiberglass. But I've worked on very old houses that used leaves for insulation.

    Don't know if you heard of that before or not, which technically leaves was the first common insulation used.

    Would buffalo skin on teepees be considered insolation? Hmmmm.

    I really think it depends on location. Many different things were used for insolation on homes. When people finally got the idea to start insulating, kind of hard to say.
