In California my fiance's divorce was filed April 11,2006. I need to know if it is final on oct 11 2006, or 6 months from when his (ex)wife will be served. She can't be found. The papers were served but she had moved so they were returned. Hes now in a different state so he can't go to court. I would appreciate help with this question.

Talk with a lawyer. It would probably be finalized 6 months from the date of filing.

Has he just "filed" or is this a final divorce decree that has been approved by the judge, while I may be wrong, I thougt it was 6 months after the judge approved and signed off on the divorce decree.

He filed for divorce on April 11th, 2006. He can't get a final address for his wife to serve the papers to. It was tried once by the sheriff's dept. but she had just moved. So he is still looking for her, but being in a different state its quite difficult. It has Not been looked at by any judge. So I read that the divorce won't be final on oct 11th this year. Not until the wife is personally served, correct?
