I woke up from a bad dream, when I looked to my side I saw a big, tall, black figure, he was wearing a long, hooded cape, he did not have a face and his arms and legs were not visible, I was very frightened, I cried and could not breathe. He was evil, he oddly put me in mind of the grim reaper.
My partner and I have just set a date for our wedding and I am convinced this is a bad sign or our wedding is cursed.
I have been told that I have a gift and that I should learn how to use it to help others, I often see, hear, smell or feel strange things that can not be explained.
What does this sighting mean?
Neither my partner nor myself have lost anyone recently either.

First off you need to get the whole bad omen thing off your mind. The only reason a marriage is not meant to be is because of the relationship. If your in a healthy one then you have nothing to worry about.

Now about the figure. I myself have experienced paranormal activity, I hate it and it really scares me. It could be one of two things:

1) You were simply still dreaming

2) You really saw an entity

Now the only thing you can do about is 'cleanse' your house. Various religions [whichever one you follow] have ways to do this.

My suggestion to you is to not pursue and try to find out what it is- often you end up digging yourself in a bigger hole [trust me].

The fact that you have this 'gift' is up to you to use it. I don't use mine, I often think to myself it's bullhonkey and it's just my imagination.

You made a deal with him in a dream more than likely when you were a kid and don't remember and you were at a check point and he showed himself to see if the deal was still on, postpone the wedding and if he comes to you in a dream again tell him no, otherwise it will be grimm.

What an utterly absurd thing to say.

I would suggest that you were having a waking dream.

In the Tarot the death card is frequently depicted with a grim reaper type figure. Most often this card means endings and rebirth.

You are getting married. This represents the end of your single status and heralds the beginning of a new era in your life a married person.

This figure simply represents the symbolic death of your old self and the start of a new cycle in your life. It may be asking you to be conscious of this change.
