The slope of a line is ΔY/ΔX where Δ is the "change" of a value.
ΔY is calculated by subtracting the two Y-coordinates. Keep the order straight. You don't necessarily get a positive number.
an easy way to do this is range over domain (or Y over X)
here is how you name your coordinates,
(X1, Y1)(X2, Y2)
your equation is
m=y2-y1/ x2-x1
Now just fill in your numbers,
1-(-3)
_____ =
3-0
(stay change switch)
1+3
______ =
3+0
4
__
3
your slope is
4/3
I hope this helped you, and if it means anything, I'm 14 (in 8th grade) and we did this in my Algebra class.
