    Kitchen ceiling leak-Help!
I got a leak in the kitchen ceiling.
We have bathroom right above the kitchen.
Even though we shut down external taps and
Faucets in the toilet upstairs, I
    Still see water dripping.

    Can some one tell me

    a) a probable cause for leak
    b) how much it typically costs? The house is
'99 built, not sure why so soon?
    c) does the ceiling need to be ripped
And repaired? How much typically it costs?
    d) any idea on ARS (rescue services, part of home insur) doing a good job
Or do I need to hire a private plumber?

Thanks a bunch for your quick advice. I am
    A total novice here

    (1) Until you open up the ceiling and locate the source of the leak you won't have a clue as to what you're dealing with.
    (2) There's just no way we can we can estimate the cost of material and labor without being at the site ourselves.
    d) any idea on ARS (rescue services, part of home insur) doing a good job
Or do I need to hire a private plumber?
    (3) Contact ARS for this information.

In short you haven't provided us with enough details to answer your questions.
    Regards, Tom

Thank you for your kind reply!

I drained out the rest of the water in the
Toilet bowel, and the dripping stopped.

The technician from rescue rooter services
    Won't even come until Monday.

Now I am most worried about the following

    a) how much it costs to replace the watermarked
Kitchen ceiling ~2ftx2ft? Mine is not a
    Fancy ceiling.

    b) How do I protect myself from mold.
Willing invest a little now (but not in
Thousands $$). Can I do it now? How much
    Does it typically costs?

    I live in dallas Tx.

    Thanks once again!

"I drained out the rest of the water in the
toilet bowel, and the dripping stopped."

Perhaps the problem's in the bowl itself and the ceiling won't have to be opened.

"a) how much it costs to replace the watermarked
kitchen ceiling ~2ftx2ft? Mine is not a
    fancy ceiling."

As explained, we can not give estimates on labor and material.

" b) How do I protect myself from mold.
willing invest a little now (but not in
thousands $$). Can I do it now? How much
    does it typically costs"

Take a spray bottle and fill it with bleach and spray it around the area affected to kill off any mold.
    Good luck, Tom
