I signed a renewal of my lease but it does not go in to effect till next month can I change it

Depending on what the renewal said, you might. However, most agreements DON'T have verbiage that allows you to get out of it. Otherwise, why would anyone ever enter into one if they could get out of it?

So, you can probably get out of it with some negotiated settlement with your landlord. It might cost you a month or two rent, or he might let you skate.
