Does a tankless gas hot water heater have a pilot that needs to be lit

None that I have seen so far, at least in the USA.

The simplest models of tankless water heaters have open flame pilots. These heaters can be seen in older houses in Europe.

Here, in the US, all tankless heaters have pilot that activates, and deactivates, with demand for hot water.
