Is it OK I replaced speaker wire with telephone wire?
I have an old component stereo system that we unpacked from the box only to find only one speaker had the wires for it. It's kind where a single larger cord is made up of 4 small wires that you stick the bare wire ends into color-coded holes both in speakera and in stereo. So I took some tleephone wire (used to wire phone jacks) and it had 8 little wires so I bundled 2 each of color-coded wires and stuck tehm in the appropriate matchiong color holes. Spekare works, but is there any problem/danger in doing this? The real speaker wires have several little thin copper wires that need twisting together. The phone wire is a solid copper strand, thicker than the finer twisted speaker wire copper wires but overall I'd say abou the same thickness (they fit into the holes ok)

You're fine - no problem. The telephone wire that you used is probably at least as large a gauge size as the original speaker wire, especially if you combines two wires for each lead and this stereo is (no offense intended) relatively cheap. For high quality stereos where a significant amount of power is going to the speakers you might want to consider a larger gauge stranded wire, which you can get at places like Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc.
