My husband was taxed in the wrong state
    Hi everyone,
My husband and I moved from ny to md in Jan of 08 and apparently for the last year we have been paying ny taxes through the army reserves. Is there a way to get this money back? (ny taxes are way higher than md) Also do we now owe md taxes?

Yes. You can always file tax returns in states where you don't have to pay taxes, to recover taxes withheld.

You can also file amended tax returns if you've already filed a return, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

Note that most states require you to pay taxes for monies earned in that state. I don't think reservist pay qualifies as that, but it might.
