    My dogs
    Any ideas on how to keep my dog from digging holes. Ive heard a few such as put the dogs own poop in the hole. That only lasted when he found his poop was in it and found another great spot for a hole. I love my yard and dog, both are electronic fenced in on about about an acre for the dog to play on. He is a 8mo. Old pit/lab mix and has a playmate in a 7yr. Old Jack Russell. We let them in often, feed them regularly, two sons spend at least 1 to 2 hrs. each afternoon playing and there are play toys left with the digger accused. HELP

    This should be posted in the pets forum. I can tell you what a pangolin is, but the dog forum is better for dealing with the nitty gritty of dog ownership.

    Here's the thing about digging. It's in your dog's nature to dig. Some dogs are bigger diggers than others, and if left long enough, it can sometimes become a hard habit to break. This will take some time and patience, but you can definitely ameliorate this situation with real success. In many senses, the best way to keep your dog not to destroy your garden isn't necessarily by eliminating digging altogether. You can go about this issue by actually teaching your dog to dig in a designated spot. Once you have this down solid, you can teach him the "no dig" command. The same trick works with barking problems. A good designated spot can be a special out-of-the-way place in your yard, or you can make or by a sandbox and use that instead. Once you have chosen an acceptable digging spot, you can put toys and prizes into it. Think buried treasure. Show your dog that you're happy when he digs there by giving praise and treats. You should be teaching him to respond to "dig" as a command. I've heard of people who have had success with this by putting a stake into the center of any existing holes or favorite digging spots. To help your dog along, you could very easily combine this trick with the method described above.
