If you need help I would call a qualified electrician to do this job.

If you are mechanically savy you will need to get a ladder and possibly a flathead or philips screwdriver.

TURN OFF ALL POWER FIRST, even go to the breaker if you need to and turn it OFF.
Remove the canopy for the fan, it's the round piece close to the ceiling. Then you will most likely four wires that are connected, a black, white, blue and a green.

Unhook all of the connected wires from each other. The fan will have what looks like a ball hanging inside of the fan brace. With all the wires disconnected simply lift the fan and remove it from the fan brace.

NOTE-Cap off all wires coming in from the ceiling box.

If you can do this you just saved yourself 75.00

Have a great day. I hope this helps you out

I'm not too crazy over the above advice. I agree with it all, but it's incomplete.

    I'll add:

    1. Disconnect power at breaker.

    2. Determine if you can remove the plate at the ceiling. It may twist off or there may be a few screws on the side that need to be looosed before it's twisted or there may be screws on top. Nothing happens when this plate is removed except you expose wires and parts.

    3. Remove lamps, globes and fan blades

    4. Note where wires go.

    5. You might have to support the fan with a chain until the wires are disconnected. Use a helper if you have one.

    6. Disconnect and cap wires.

What make/model is the fan? Pictures might help.
