    Fish smell on dog backend
    Hi there
My 3 year old rottweiler has started to get a really bad fish smell coming from what seems to be her back end... does any one know what this is

And also she farts a hell of a lot and they really do smell to the extent were I have to have the windows open any tips on how to stop her farts smelling? I've tried changing her diet but it hasn't worked thnks

From her back end are we talking rectum or that other piece of anatomy? I'm assuming that other... in that case I would say she is proabbly not spayed and it's that time of the month or that she could be pregnant. As for the farts I've never heard of a solution to that so sorry :/ but for the other one id say time for a visit to the vet.

I knew it was a silly question well the fish smell sticks to everything and I'm 4eva cleaning sheets. There is no discharge she isn't in season and she definitely isn't pregnant so thtats that out of the window

Then I have no clue mate sorry I couldn't be more help. If no one else gives you insight call a vet and they might be able to tell you more(for free still) that could help you solve that issue.

Np :) just seemed most likely to be from that "other" region, and just had a thought as to what it could be but I don't know if dogs suffer from this symptom... but it could be a yeast infection. But again don't know if dogs do in fact get them/can get them. Well GL

    Alty

Could be a clogged anal gland that is releasing a bit at a time.

Our lab gets clogged anal glands all the time, I wouldn't say it smells fishy, but I wouldn't rule it out.

If it is this then you need to express the anal glands. I know, it sounds gross, it is gross, you'll want rubber gloves and possibly a face mask, or go to the vet, they'll do it for you.

I can't say for sure this is what it is, so a trip to the vet is the best idea.

    Good luck.
