Live in GA worked in WA where to file?
I have an awkward situation that I can't really get any solid answers on.
I started working straight out of college on January 9th 2008. I worked and lived in the state of GA until 4/6/08 then was "temporarily" moved to WA until 3/16/09. I have worked in WA for the past 11 months. I have also lived in WA for the first 3 months in a hotel then in an employer provided apartment and am now living in a hotel again.

I went to somewhere to do my taxes and filled out all the paperwork. The person that was helping said I could save about $2000 if I could get my employer to split my W2 into two different ones. One that was for the work I did in GA and the other for the work I did in WA.

    So my questions are:
    Is splitting a W2 possible?
Is there a way of doing my taxes so that I don't have to pay GA state tax for the time I was living and working in WA?

    Thanks in advance

The income earned while in GA is to be reported to GA.
Income earned while in WA is to be reported to WA.

If you are present in a state, then any income earned during this period, must be reported to the state. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: Working or Living in Two or More states
