I have been trying to find the title of a movie I loved as a kid in the 80s. It may have been on the disney channel but I'm not positive. All I remember was it was about a girl who was kind of obsessed with the ocean, there might have been something about her almost drowning, but I think she can communicate with whales and she believes she's from the ocean, and at the end I sort of remember her diving into the ocean and drowning? Or returning to the ocean? It was not "ocean girl" the show. It's driving me crazy, please help me if you can!

Just read about a 90's movie called The Sea People that sounds really good. Probably too recent to be your movie.

I think you and I are looking for the same movie. All I remember is a beginning scene where she's laying facedown in the ocean listening to whales and someone thinks she's dead. I always wonder about this movie but have no luck figuring out the name. Have you had any luck?

Thinking saving her, they discover that, in fact, she's able to stay a long time under water and was listening to the whale songs. She also have two special friends: a dolphin and a whale. But her world could change drastically near soon because her grand-father is about to sold his hostelry near the ocean.
