I bought a 2nd remote for my Hampton Bay Windward III ceiling fan. It works the fan fine, but does NOT run the light . The original remote that came with the fan works fine and runs both. How can I get the light to run off this remote also?

Where did you get this second remote, and is it the same as the original one?

I bought the remote at home depot . It is a Hampton Bay remote and looks the same as original except for one color difference.

Apparently it's not exactly the same. I would take it back and order the correct remote directly from Hampton Bay.

Or, if you like, try exchanging it first to make sure you didn't get a dud.
