    Transfer of probation?
I currently live in Nevada, but recently been charged with a crime in Hawaii. How would I be able to transfer my probation to Nevada. I have been living there for about 6 months now. I do have an apartment in my name along with all my bills. The only thing is that I don't have a job set up yet. I had one but because I had to fly to Hawaii to take care of this situation. I lost that opportunity. Can anyone help me.

I used to be a probation officer in FL. It was a bit ago so things may have changed. At that time there was something called Interstate Compact. It was an agency that facilitated transfer of probationers between states.

A probationer would report to his probation officer after sentencing and provide detailed information about his/her proposed out of state living situation (address, phone #, persons sharing the residence, job, etc.). The probation officer (assuming he/she has no ligitimate obections) would that apply through Interstate Compact for a "courtesy supervision" from gthe receiving state. The acceptance could take from two weeks to three months to come through. Some officers won't let probationers leave the sentencing state until accepted in the receiving state... but generally, if the probationer isn't dangerous, violent, sex offender, etc... a travel permit would be issued and the individual would report in by mail until accepted. This is how it worked for state systems. County probations (usually misdemeanors) have different and varying policies. Hope this helps.
