My two (will be three in may) year old male cat has recently had trouble urinating. He does get some out but not always in the litter box (though he does go back to it often and stay in there longer than normal). I took him to the vet the next day and they couldn't find any blood or crystals in his urine though his white blood cell count was a bit elevated. They prescribed him Torbitrol (5mg) 3/4 a day and Baytril (68mg) 1/2 a day. This morning blood was visible in his urine. I'm assuming it's blood anyway as his urine is now pinkish. I'm worried that the things they gave me won't cover this new development... I'm also worried that I remembered the dosages wrong. I've already given him the pills today... should I force him to vomit them back up so they don't harm him? Help!

Let the doses go through normally. It isn't going to harm him. What will harm him is forcing him to vomit because they will be digested by now, already absorbed into the system, so it would be futile. Why can't you just call the vet to confirm the dosage of each ?

They are closed today. I could call an emergency vet but I don't see how they would know what my vet said.

It goes by weight. If you tell them the name of the meds and the weight of your cat, then I am pretty sure they can recommend dosage. Otherwise you are stuck right now unless you try that approach. But they may say, bring the cat in.

Baytril is an infection control med, and Torbitrol is for pain. Both meds are used for dogs and cats. Baytril for urinary tract infections. There is blood in his urine because he has a UTI. The Baytril will clear that up. I can safely assume that you should continue to administer the dosages you mentioned in your post above, otherwise, the efficacy of the Baytril will discontinue and nothing will be accomplished. The dosages are not excessive. Your vet doesn't have an emergency no. to access ?
