A lean on my home from a creditor.
What is a lean on my home? I have homestead my home 10+ years ago. A creditor who bought my credit card debt called me today threatening to put a lean on my home if I don't settle today with them! They originally had set up a payment plan for each month with me and I have faithfully made every payment never being late! They know that I own my home and told me to take out a home equity loan in order to settle with them.

My main question is: what are my legal rights as a home owner as well as theirs respectfully?

Thank you very much for your time and services.

    Sincerely,

    Larry Givani.

Dependds on where you live, in some US states you can not put a lien on a homestead, in others you can.

Next if you have a payment plan ( in writing) just remind them of that, if it is not in writing, it does not really exist, they can change the terms anytime they wish, they lie all the time.
They will threaten to call the police, to have your car towed and more to get paymets, most work off commisison of what they collect.
