    Troubleshooting Codes 2001 Lexus RX300
Airbag warning light keeps blinking. Code B 0138 Short Circuit in Seatbelt Pretensioner for Drivers Side. Cleared code and drove 5 minutes and started blinking again. I need to replace the Drivers Side Pretensioner. Question is this something I can do myself? I do not want to unexpectedly deploy the airbag. Dealer wants $453.30 to do the job. I can buy the part for under $200.00. Any opinions:confused:

You it yourself! It needs basically a new seatbelt. Just basic socket wrenches and pry tools for removing trim.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait several minutes before disconnecting any wiring. Have the key out of the ignition.
Just be careful when removing the small connector for the pretensioner. It has a small metal lock down tab you need to flip up to pull out the 2 pin little connector.
Also, remember you have to reinitialize the moon roof and auto windows when power is reconnected.
