Swelling in feet along with burning sensation.
    Hi,

I'm 28 F and I've been having swelling in my feet or almost 6 to 7 months now. There is no pain or discomfort but the swelling is constant. Off late I've started having a burning sensation in my feet. This is on and off but severe, sometimes I have to take off my footwear and socks to feel better.

I've even gained a lot of weight during the last few months, without any changes to my lifestyle. I've gained around 15 Lbs in last 3 months only. I experience mild pain in left side of my chest almost daily.

Please, can anybody suggest what it is or some tests which I should undergo.
(I got my thyroid checked and it came out normal)

    Thanks

    The blood pressure is normal.
I missed out to mention that I've started having fever in the night almost on a daily basis for last 1 week or so. The fever appears around the late evening and is gone almost after an Hr once I wake up.

Have you been tested for diabetes or kidney function? The burning sensation sounds like diabaetic neuropathy. I'd think your b.p. would be high, though. I would definitely get a full blood chemistry done.

My sugar levels are normal, I keep checking it at regular intervals as I have a family history of diabetes.

Regarding the kidney function, the last time I got it checked was around 3 months back. At that time it was almost normal. Just that the Sodium and the Chloride levels were slightly lower than the lowest ref range.

    Krissharma,
pain on the left side of the chest, especially if it's on the side, and night fever, is a sign of infection in the chest, probably in the lung. It sounds like viral pneumonia, sometimes referred as walking pneumonia.

Swelling of feet, and gaining weight are probably from fluid accumulation in your body. Most common cause in your age is kidney disease. Does your left kidney hurts, if you hit it moderately with the fist?

Anyway, this is something for immediate check with the doctor. If you have bacterial infection, you'll need antibiotics.

Your primary doctor should make a general body examination and ask you about symptoms history, he will probably order basic blood and urine tests, and chest X-ray. Then, on the basis of results, he will refer you to appropriate specialist.

Thanks for all the information Boron.
I'll surely go to doctor this weekend and would keep you all posted about the outcome :-)

    Krissharma -

I would like to know what happened... I too have been having the swollen lower extremities for the past 6-8 months and the bottoms (including the sides and heel) of my feet have began to "burn" sometimes unbearably. Depending on where I am, I have to steal away sometimes to remove my shoes and socks as nothing can touch them due to the (painful) sensitivity.

    Thanks.

Please look at the dates of the threads you're responding to. This one is almost four years old. Also the original poster hasn't been back in two and a half years. So the chances of getting your question answer is slim to nill. You will probably have a better chance of getting your issue addressed if you were to post in your own thread.

Though I think all we can do is suggest that you find a doctor. It is almost impossible to diagnose and treat through the internet. This sounds like something serious enough to see a doctor.
