After last nights song and dance before the joint houses of congress has Mr Nobama finally gotten the hint that every time he or any of his staff open their mouths and tell us all about the doom and gloom in this country the stock market takes another big hit. Will he now start speaking positive. Or is he incapable of that?

Yes, he is incapable. And worse yet (I fear) most Americans are incapable of recognizing it too.

We're coming off a President who did poorly, so I believe that so many are willing to take "anything different" :(

The following CBS poll tells you what the people really thinks about their president:

CBS News and Knowledge Networks held a nationally representative poll of approximately 500 people who watched President Obama give his address to Congress to gauge their reaction in the minutes after the president's speech.

Though the results are not yet final, here are the preliminary findings.

Seventy-nine percent of speech watchers approve of President Obama's plans for dealing with the economic crisis. Before the speech, 62 percent approved.

Fifty-two of speech watchers think the president's economic plans will help them personally. Thirty-five thought so before the speech.

Seventy-five percent of speech watchers now say they were able to get a good understanding of Barack Obama's economic plans, compared to 61 percent before the speech.

Seventy-three percent of speech watchers think President Obama's plans will make the economy better. Twelve percent think they will make them worse, while 15 percent think they will make no difference.

Seventy-nine percent of speech watchers are optimistic about the next four years with Mr. Obama as president. Seventy-one percent said they were optimistic before the speech.

Oh and don't forget the head of the banking committee the last two years, that goof ball Barnie Frank who has taken kick backs from freddie and fannie. Or who has for the last 10 or so years been cooking the books at freddie and fannie to make millions in bonuses? People like Jamie Gorelick that's who! I guess you failed school huh? This country was not founded on socialistic principals, It was founded as a democratic society. As such people are free to make of it what they want. If you choose to get a good education, work hard and make a lot of money in the process that is democracy. Under your theory, if you go to school ( paid for by someone else) and work at a meaningful job,( give to you by the government) given just enough money to sustain yourself while the "elite" in government live on caviar and steak, that is OK?

I'm the daughter of a farmer from Arkansas. I was raised a Southern Democrat and Bill Clinton was my governor all during my youth and through high school. (Still have my autographed photo, too.)

Once, the Democrats were the party of the working man. They now seem to be the party of people always wanting something they didn't earn. I came from a world where if you didn't work, you didn't eat - meaning if you didn't give to the common good you didn't get anything out.

Once I married and moved out I realized the Democrats didn't represent me. I left home and married at 19, never finished college and scraped by. We saved, bought a house, worked 2 jobs each, had kids and got a bigger house. We never asked for help from the government - not even unemployment.

I thought for a while that the Republican party was the answer. Found out they are no different from the Democrats when they have all the power. Want to know the difference betweent the parties? Democrats help their friends and Republicans help their friends. The rest of us pay for it.

I don't really have a party. The one that comes closest is the Libertarian party, but no one takes them seriously.

It just chaps my fanny to hear a co-worker plan how she is going to spend her multi-thousand dollar tax return (thank you EIC) when she is pregnant with baby #3 from daddy #3 and to top it all off is on 3 government programs.

My hubby and I were handed a $4k tax bill on top of what we have already paid. Those of us who have busted out collective butts over the years and have followed the rules and not gone into incredible debt just get a little resentful now and again when we're told to suck it up and get ready to pay for someone else's irresponsibility.
