I need a felony taken off my record
I started at a university majoring in Medical billing and coding, I had been going forever 6 weeks, making start A's, then I find out I can not get a job in the healthcare industry with a felony. So now I have to give up on my dream career because I made a mistake. I want that felony removed, can it be done?

What was the conviction for and how long ago was the sentencing?

The explungement varies by state, by first offender programs and other factors, In some places it is not even possible. In others you have to wait 8 years to get it explunged.

But the other bad thing is, often just being explunged will not remove it from a national security background search it only removes it from the public view.

It is very possible that you will have to find a new career.

    Hello S:

You can apply for a pardon. If you get one, you can't be denied a license because of your conviction.

In Ok. you can expunge a deferred sentence by filing a petiton and giving notice to several entities after the probation term has expired. You cannot expunge a conviction.

    Good question.

I would like to add to this question, if you guys don't mind. What if, very open community service was completed at your own will.

For example, hypothetically, someone is charged and convicted with distribution of marijuana (less than 10 pounds). During the college years and extensive hours were spent as a counselor or a youth leader of some sort in after school program, while the convict is getting good grades in school.

If this were to happen, how would the jobs that SAYON will be applying look at his resume? Would that be sufficient to even make a difference? Or maybe to revisit the court?

In some states it does not matter, they merely do not explunge any records.

As for as hiring someone within the medical field with a felony, there are some laws, as in medicare that will not allow a person with a felony or other certain crimes to care for or have access to their medical records so there is really no option there.

In states where they do allow a record to be explunged, yes they will need proof that they have turned their life around to show the court.
