I bought a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse for my old laptop, and it worked great. I now have a wonderful new laptop, and I'd like to be able to use this wireless keyboard and mouse with it now.

The only thing is that I threw away the box, and I can't for the life of me remember how to activate them so that they'll work with my computer. I've checked the manufacturer's website, but I haven't been able to find the basic set up information.

I don't believe there is an installation CD. There is one short USB cord with a small rectangular box and a single button on it.

This should be really simple.

Just plug the receiver into the USB port.

I know I said it's "for dummies," but I figured that part out just fine. :)

I pluged in the chord. Nothing happened. I tried touching the button (there's only one on the box attached to the USB cord), and nothing happened. Then I tried holding the button down, and a green light flashed for a number of seconds, and then it went out and stayed out. Neither the keyboard nor the mouse has worked through these methods so far.

The batteries in the keyboard and mouse are all new. There are no batteries in the box attached to the USB chord.

What I am hoping is that someone might be able to help me locate the manual or a troubleshooting section for this set. All I've been able to find are ads on it.

This should be dead simple. What am I missing?

When you plug in the receiver does the system recognize a new USB device?

IT should be plug n' play. I guess I am unsure of why they're not working. I actually have the same wirless mouse and all I have to do is plug it in. I didn't install any sort of program or CD install pack. I guess I'm of no help then...

Never mind. I got it! Now I get to save my poor fingers, hands and wrists from the abuse they've endured thanks to a touch pad, a flat laptop keyboard and a virtual compulsion to keep posting.

The solution was for dummies. The batteries were new a few months ago, but these suckers drain out even if they're not being used. Always check the batteries.

I was about to say that. I have an issue with mine s well. When you put the usb into the mouse it always doesn't shut the mouse off so they drain fast. I have to put new onesin mine every couple weeks!
