    Relocating staircase
Right now our staircase runs parallel to the outside wall and is situated 8 1/2 feet away with joists running perpendicular to it. We need to move the staircase another 1 1/2 feet away from the outside wall. How do we reinforce the joists? Do we attach a 10' joist to each existing joist? Any advice on making this move less difficult?

Re box the joist. A box out for a stair tower opening is simply double joist to carry the other floor load

Another words a stair opening is doubled up in joist all the way around to carry the rest of the floor joist that are perpendicular to the opening
