    Early Termination of Business Lease
I currently have a lease in California---this is second office for my business. We have asked for an early temrination from the landlords because we have been paying the rent late for the past 3-4 months. Do I have any legal grounds for early termination--?

    Hello Biller:

If there are any grounds for early termination, you'll find them in the lease itself. They're NOT all the same.

There MIGHT be something in there... But probably not. You may find sanctions for breeching the contract. That's probably as close to what you're looking for that you'll find.

Being broke, in an of itself, ISN'T grounds for breaking any lease I've ever been a party to.

No you being late on payment is only a reason for the landlord to charge late fees.

If you are late too many times they landlord may wish to break the lease but still hold you liable for payments
