I have a propane furnace and I just ran out of propane last week. I just had the tank filled today, and I cannot get the furnace to light. It has an electric ignition that lights it automatically when the thermostat is turned on. I have the normal glow at the burner, but it does not ignite. When the tank is empty then filled is there a valve on the furnace that bleeds air out of the line?

There should be no air in the line. If you run out of LP, you will lose supply pressure, but you still have LP in the line. Are you sure the delivery person didn't turn off a valve near the tank? My next suspicion would be the regulator. Give it a few firm knocks (don't break it!) with a block of wood - it may be stuck due to cold, moisture, and being decompressed when you ran out of LP.

Most if not all propane delivery company's will bleed the line for you to make sure the supply is reaching the furnace. Federal,liability insurance carriers, and state laws that govern the propane industry industry require them to offer this service. This is not a do it yourself situation since the union might have to be cracked inside the structure/home. I suggest you call the supplier back and have then take care of the situation. Propane is a very dangerous gas when serviced incorrectly and can cause serious harm that is why I recommend calling your propane company back to fix the situation.
