    Hospital Bills.
I had apllied for and received medical insurance one month before I was admitted into the hopital for a heart related problem in the state of North Carolina. After gettins out and two premium payments I received a letter canceling my insurance due to preexsisting conditions. Now I am getting threating letters of legal action from a collection agency for hospital bills in excess of $40,000. Can I aply for charity care or what are my other options? I have no way of paying this kind of dept. I am really stressed and scare I will lose everything.

Certainly, you should utilize any payment options at your disposal. I believe you should have the insurance contract reviewed by a competent lawyer, as well. The hospital probably has a social worker who can provide additional information.
