Hydrate Formula decomposes to produce HCl
If a hydrate of the formula MClY*H20 decomposes when heated to produce HCl, what change would you expect to occur when a piece of blue litmus paper is held in the path of vapor released? Explain.

    Perito

HCl is an acid. Litmus paper turns red in the presence of acids and it turns blue in the presence of bases.
