Breaking a Lease because of landloard entering without permission in CT
On Friday our fridge broke and we called the landload to informher. When we told her about it we gave her permission to enter the house with a repair man only. She waited till I left and then came over and cleaned out my fridge and frezzer and put everything outside. The repair man never came and will not be here till Monday. The fridge is not fixable and she is going to need to "order" one which will not be in till Friday. We will be going a week without a fridge. My main problem is that she entered the house without permission and we through the fridge. We have a handwritten lease that does not say anything about breaking the lease. Can we legally break the lease? We live in Connecticut.

Probably not. A landlord is generally allowed to enter the premises for repairs. However, I would sue her for the costs of the ruined food.

I am still wondering if you are serious?

Beyond yes, she may be liable for the costs of some of the food, and perhaps a discount on rent for going a week without a fridge ( no store that sells them in town)

But for repairs they merely have to give you notice ( and you knew fridge was out and the landlord has every right to come in and check it ( not take your word it is not working) and to enter.
They can just call you and tell you they will be coming over to do a check, they don't actually need your permission to enter just inform you they will.

And on the broken fridge, they were not out of line at all. Can I assume you have not rented before?

Many places merely give out schedule at the first of the year telling what days they will be doing bug spray, or carpet clean and so on.

I used to do monthly checks of all my rental property, on a certain day each month they were told when they rented.
