Can a 15 year old date a 19 year old if the moher allows, withou the 19 year old being prosecuted, even if the biological father who has joint custody disagrees?

There are no laws against dating. But if there is sexual activity, he could be prosecuted.

However, I'm with the father. I don't see what a 19 yr old would have in common with a 15 yr old. I suspect the mother is agreeing because she feels forbidding it would just drive them together.

I knew a 20 year old to date a 15 year old and I thought it was weirdest thing on the planet. If you were 25 and she was 20, that's okay, but there's still going to be some maturity issues.

So yeah, it's legal to date her, but if you have sex with her and her father prosecutes, you'll be going to jail for quite some time. I wouldn't risk it.

What type of mother would allow it? I would think that situation would give a good reason for the father to petition to modify the joint custody, so your father can step in to see that you don't date this guy who is too old for you through the court.

Although it is legal to date, dating leads to things that are illegal. What a 19 yo sees in a 15 yo is a flower.

Not that I agree, but I can think of some possible reasons.

Have you ever seen the play The Fantasticks? The premise of the play is that two neighbor fathers want their children to fall in love. So to do this, then pretend to feud to drive the kids together out of rebellion. This is all explained in the song Just Say No. The song opens like this:

Why did the kids put beans in their ears?
No one can hear with beans in their ears!
After awhile the reason appears
They did cause we said NO!

So maybe the mother thinks that if she refuses the relationship the daughter will want it even more. But if she okays it, it will probably fizzle quickly.
