    Best Republican Ticket 2012
I think that the best Republican ticket for the 2012 election would be Rudy Giuliani for president and Mitt Romney for vice president. They are a good mix of business experience, law and order and moderation. Mccain should have chosen one of them for vp last year. Any thoughts about them and other good candidates?

    Hello earl:

    I'm a Ron Paul fan.

We're in the middle of one of those rare times in our history where the confluences of need, time and opportunity are producing a sea change in our society.

    Only a few comprehend it.

Consequently, the candidates you mentioned (and me too), represent the old... In my view, the white men who run the Republican party today, won't be running it in 2012.

Rudy will never win the Republican nomination. He is way too liberal for the southern wing to accept - supports abortion rights and gun control, for example - and issues in his personal life are "problematic" at best. Consequently all he can do to gain support in the Republican party is talk about 9-11 over and over, and stick to campaigning in Florida, where these sorts of things may not kill his candidacy outright. I think RickJ is right - Huckabee has to be seen as a leading contender right now, unless he does something real stupid on his TV show.

Rudy will challenge for either a Senate Seat in 2010 or for NY Governor . The Huckster has found his new career . I doubt he will make another run .good riddance.
Don't know about Romney. I like him a lot but I think he had better start asserting himself in the Republican leadership if he wants to be relevant..

New leadership is emerging . It is way too early to think of 2012 . Think of 2010 and the recapturing of Congress (or at least closing the gap )

I just hope some changes are made in the primaries. I don't want my candidate chosen before I even get a chance to express my preference, like this last time.

    Way too early.

I like a Jindal / Palin ticket if they can continue to show good results in the states they govern.

I think they will bring out the conservative base, the younger ages, and independents that are reflexively tired of seeing old white men, no disrespect intended.

Another way out there ticket I like, especially in contrast to the Obama/ Pelosi / Reid socialist apending spectrum, is a Ron Paul / Tom Coburn ticket.

I agree with you, earl... I would love to see Giuliani in office. Don't know how likely that is, but I can certainly hope and dream! I'm at least hoping he goes for senate...

I like them both, but it's not likely that there will be a ticket where both candidates are strong conservatives.

If the Republican orginazation persists in dissing Palin, they will have made a HUGE mistake.
